Dr Dean (Sung Wook) Kim

BDS, PGDip, MSc, FIADFE 

Special interest in dental implants, comprehensive restorative and aesthetic (cosmetic) dentistry.

Dr. Dean Kim is the director and principal dentist of South Gippsland Dental Clinic. He earned his dental degree with credit from the University of Otago in New Zealand. He brings expertise from working in both public and private practices, joining South Gippsland Dental Clinic in 2012. Dr. Dean is passionate about maintaining and restoring natural beauty and harmony in smiles. His clinic focuses on complex aesthetic rehabilitation, utilising traditional and innovative techniques, including minimally invasive approaches. He holds accreditations from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) and the Royal Australasian Academy of Dental Surgeons. He also holds a Masters in Aesthetic Dentistry (MSc) through King’s College London and is a Fellow of the International Academy of Dental Facial Esthetics (FIADFE). Dr. Dean is dedicated to continuing education and enjoys gardening, travel, photography and playing the saxophone and clarinet.

Dr Jay Choi

BDS

Special interest in orthodontics, restorative and aesthetic (cosmetic) dentistry

Dr. Jay Choi is an associate dentist at South Gippsland Dental Clinic. He obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree in 2021 with credit at the University of Otago in New Zealand. Dr. Jay lived in South Korea, Canada and New Zealand before moving to Australia to join South Gippsland Dental Clinic in May 2024. Dr. Jay has a particular passion for orthodontics and restorative/aesthetic dentistry, which is supplemented by his commitment to continuous learning, staying up-to-date with latest advancements in the dental field. Currently he is undertaking his Masters in Orthodontics (MSc) at the University of Plymouth and a Postgraduate Certificate in Clear Aligner Therapy (PGCert) in Australia. When away from the dental clinic, Dr. Jay stays active by playing basketball and weightlifting. He also enjoys photography, culinary, reading and cinema.

Dr Elvira Yang

BDS (Hons), MRACDS (PDS)

Elvira graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree with First Class Honours.

Passionate about staying at the forefront of modern dentistry, Elvira is dedicated to continually expanding her dental knowledge and has successfully completed the primary examinations for admission to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. Her contributions in dental research have also been published in the International Endodontic Journal.
 
With a special interest in restorative dentistry, Elvira is driven by the belief that everyone deserves to feel both comfortable and confident in their smile, and that dentistry should be as much about comfort and trust as it is about clinical precision. She prioritises creating a calm, welcoming environment where patients feel at ease. Her gentle chairside manner, clear communication, and thoughtful care ensure every visit is as smooth and reassuring as possible.
When she’s not in the clinic, Elvira enjoys beachside walks, Pilates, baking sweet treats, and exploring Melbourne’s vibrant food scene.

Paul Bione

Hygienist 
Paul Graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2004 with a Diploma of Oral Heath Therapy as a Dental Hygienist.
In the time since, Paul has worked primarily in private and periodontal specialist practices. Paul’s main focus is the prevention of dental disease. He believes that through careful education of his clients, particularly education in daily and thorough plaque removal, a vast majority of dental disease can be prevented.
Paul has a keen interest in periodontal disease and treatment, as well as the prevention of periodontal disease, and is an active participant in continuing education on the subject.
In his spare time, Paul enjoys spending time with his family and friends, listening to music, farming and simply enjoying life. Although his name is Paul, his friends and family call him  Pablo.
